Our Frames

Explore our gallery of traditional, contemporary and custom frames. Over the years we have developed many unique profile designs and exclusive finishes in conjunction with leading artists, art dealers and collectors. Exclusive to Pure and Applied is our  carefully designed range of 18th/19th century "Hogarth" profiles in cherry, lime and pine from pearwood and pine originals. These can be expertly finished by our workshop in a variety of ways using traditional stains, paints, Japanese lacquer and waxes. Additionally, we have been very careful in our approach to gilt frame finishes and are able to supply traditional water gilt frames sensitively aged to match the finest early examples. Below is just a small selection of what we can offer, please contact us for further details:

TRADITIONAL FRAMES

We have created a large range of hand-finished frames, beautifully finished, plain wood, stained and wax finishes, genuine gold and silver leaf over bole and gesso, painted, bronzed and lacquer finishes.

contemporary FRAMES

A simple, elegant style can be achieved in a number of ways; sprayed box frames, acrylic boxes, sleek aluminium, hand-finished natural wood, gilding or slim-tray frames for canvases.

ANTIQUE FRAMES

We have hundreds of antique frames, from the Georgian period to early twentieth century, in stock at 169 Bermondsey Street. We are able to cutdown and restore some frames to suit your artwork.

custom frames

For some projects, an entirely bespoke approach is called for; one in which we start from the ground up with the design and construction of the frame, ensuring it will perfectly suit the artefact to be framed and the final location of the framed item. After more than 35 years of experience, we still relish the unique challenges each project brings.
