Framing Paintings
This section refers to paintings on some sort of cloth or fabric support, if the painting is on paper or similar material the link to prints and drawings or watercolours will be more relevant.
Stretching
If the canvas is unstretched we can stretch it for you . Bear in mind  some canvases have never been stretched over a wooden stretcher or strainer and  others may have been removed from stretchers that were not square or true. Once stretched or re-stretched you may wish to have the canvas framed.

Framing
This can be done in one of two basic ways. Either with a rebated frame that will come slightly over the edge of the canvas or in a tray frame that allows you to see the edge of the canvas. A tray frame has a gap, or gutter,  between the edge of the canvas and the edge of the usually, simple frame with a solid colour at the back of this gap. When choosing a frame think about the style, period and feel of the image, what you like and what might suit your interior/purpose.  Remember that larger images are going to need stronger frames to support them.

Glazing
Canvases are not usually glazed but can be placed in a box frame if required. If you are worried about fading or discolouration of the image; UV filtering glass and acrylic is available. If reflections might be a problem modern anti-reflection glass can eliminate  them.

Conservation
Restoration/ conservation of canvases can save many works that have been damaged or poorly looked after or are on weak supports.
