Framing Documents
Mounting

Decide how much of the paper/substrate you wish to see. Consider the width and colour of any window mount (mat /passe partout) you wish to use. If you wish to see the edges of the paper you might consider having the image float mounted with a gap around it and spacers or mount to hold it back from the glass; this will require a deeper moulding or box frame.

Vellum, parchment and fragile materials can require specialist mounting and flattening techniques. We will advise you on these. Wax Seals can be accommodated in shaped mounts and box frames. Please see our framing projects photo gallery. Lined and sealed frames with water resistant  backs can be used to protect in humid conditions.

Framing
When choosing  a frame think about the style, period and feel of the image, what you like and what might suit your interior/purpose. Keep it simple. Remember that larger images are going to need stronger frames to support them.

Glazing
We would always advise on the use of UV filtering glass or acrylic to protect your document against fading of inks and pigments or discolouration of papers. If reflections might be a problem modern anti-reflection glass can eliminate  them.
